Maintenance of healthy weight and normal growth, undoubtedly, has always overwhelmed parents of children in growing ages. However, monitoring the eating habits of your child and modelling the diet charts of the children are the prerequisites for the growth and development.

The balanced diet must contain a food from each food group with up to two healthy snacks. Now, the food groups that constitute the balanced diet are:

  1. protein foods like fish, meat and eggs,

  3. Fibre containing food fruits and vegetables.

Large amounts of fruits and vegetables, at least five large portions a day make up a composite balanced and healthy diet.

  1. low fat or non fat dairy foods
  2. poultry without skin
  3. lean cuts of meat
  4. whole grain breads or whole wheat pastas and cereals
  5. undoubtedly, fruits and veggies

Parents can always encourage their children for healthier options and always motivate their ward for looking ahead to good eating habits. Quality dietary habits can usually be incentivised by:

  1. having family meals

  3. providing a variety of healthy options
  4. having three balanced meals with nourishing snacks in between
  5. encouraging your child to have water and homemade juices instead of sodas
